All hail Macbeth!

I've added a Macbeth character poster activity I did last week with my seniors. There's also a handout on citing correctly from plays. There's a lot more I'd like to add to this page, but alas, there is only so much time.

As for the image above, I had students do a five minute freewrite. They were free to describe what they thought was going on, write about any connections they made between the image and their world, write about how the characters were feeling, etc. It sparked some creative responses, and even my more reluctant students were able to chime in.

I also teach Macbeth. Where did you get the visual? Can you e-mail it to me? I would like to know the poster assignment too please. I am also a high school English teacher and new blogger. I will start Macbeth next week. I am looking for new material.

Click on the image to download it. I did a Google image search for Macbeth and it came up, I think.

As for the poster assignment, it's posted in the link list on the right. Click on "Macbeth Character Poster Activity" to download.

Unfortunately I am unable to e-mail you because you did not include your e-mail address anywhere. If you'd like, you can e-mail me at bgvocab@yahoo.com and I will reply.

Cheers,

Mr. B-G

I love your learning and teaching activities.

I'm a first-year teacher studying Macbeth for the first time in 15 years with my students and have found a plethora of material on your blog.

Thank you.

You're most welcome aussie student teacher. I'd be curious to hear about how the lessons went, and any tweaks or improvements you might have made to the materials.

rglove4ever - I hope your short-term teaching assignment went well! I love teaching Macbeth... the themes, the drama, the violence! It's great fun.

Suz - You're welcome. Best of luck in your new position. Don't be afraid to try new things and take chances. Sometimes you might just stumble upon something that really works.

Get feedback from your students on how things seem to be going, what they like, what they don't, what's effective, what's not, etc. You need to take some things they say with a grain of salt, but more often than not, my students are the ones who have helped me come up with some of my best assignments, be it directly or indirectly.

Enjoy the journey!

I'd be interested in the character assignment but my school will not let me access your document file host. Could you possibly email it to me?

Thanks,

I am a student-teacher who will be teaching Macbeth and a variety of others things. I've been trying to look at some of your handouts to get a starting idea, but it wont let me.

Is there any way around this because I am definitely interested in what you've worked on - and as a starting student teacher I want to make sure this goes well for my kids =]

Thanks in advance.

Best of luck with your student teaching.

Hi!
I am currently teaching Macbeth but I want to make it fun. Right now the kids are struggling with the language but I also would like them to act and do something like your character poster. I also like the idea of using lyrics to a song. I clicked on your link but it doesn't work.

I was also wondering if you could email the poster assignment to me at Allison88@live.missouristate.edu. I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks so much,
